The Advanced Manufacturing and Bulk Solids Technology Center will host a variety of equipment for powder handling, storage, conveying and particulate air filtration.
Companies handling solid materials can use the center's equipment to make trial runs, try various formulations or scale up from the lab or pilot without shutting down their own plants. This offers local and national organizations the opportunity to scale up and grow without the need to complete research at their own sites.
When you choose to grow with K-State Olathe, we’ll handle everything.
As a neutral party, we offer solutions for companies in one of two ways.
First, if you have a problem that you need help solving, you can bring it to us. We’ll work with you to identify solutions, explore options and determine what your best path forward is.
Whether you’re curious about a specific type of equipment or you need help with a particular product or ingredient, we’ll work with you to come up with a solution that works for your organization.
Secondly, if you’re thinking about trying something new or want to explore upscaling, our technology center enables you to try this out in a safe space that includes a controlled environment in which to explore testing.
Our team of experts can not only help you complete tests and find solutions, but also can provide support and consulting.
Our campus has two labs in the Advanced Manufacturing and Bulk Solids Technology Center.
The Material Properties Test Lab is up and running. This lab looks at material properties. For example, if your manufacturing operation requires storage silos, you can send your material to us. Our team will look at how fine it is, its bulk density, how it will behave in the silo and whether abrasion is of concern. If you have additional questions or concerns with your material, you can always reach out to our team.
Our Process Lab, which is currently in development, will have large amounts of industrial equipment available that can be used for additional testing and training.
Don’t need testing, but do need help?
We offer consulting to help you elevate your organization’s production and manufacturing offerings. Personalized consulting means you can ask the questions you need and our subject matter expert will guide you through possible solutions you can use to be successful.
In addition to consulting and research, our team also offers a variety of short course training opportunities for professionals in the advanced manufacturing space. These short courses are available on a rotating basis. Each course is designed to help elevate the knowledge of attendees when it comes to topics such as pneumatic conveying and dust safety. You can view the schedule here.
