Are you preparing for your fall semester?

Want to make sure you’re getting off on the right foot?

Here’s what you need to know.

Evaluate your financial options

First off, make sure you know how you’ll be financing your education and when your payments are due. You can visit our scholarship page for more information on options for financing your education. Whether you are pursuing a bachelor’s degree completion program or you’d like to get a graduate certificate or degree, there are resources available for students and our team is ready to help you understand your options.

We offer a variety of scholarship options, including scholarships for:

  • Johnson County residents
  • Transfer students
  • Personal financial planning majors
  • Graduate students
  • Undergraduate students
  • And more

For specific questions about scholarship options, reach out to our student services team for assistance. They can provide you with eligibility information and help you get your application started.

Get organized

You’ll also want to take the time to create a study plan of action. Chances are that you’re juggling work or family responsibilities in addition to school. This can make your academic journey challenging but getting organized in advance can help.

Getting organized with the help of a digital calendar or planner can help you:

  • Create development plans for your projects
  • Ensure you don’t miss assignment deadlines
  • Balance your work and class schedules
  • Keep your notes and ideas in one place

Many students use paper planners to keep their personal, work and school calendars in one place; however, digital planners provide you with another option for organization.

A few popular options for planners include:

  • Google calendar
  • Outlook
  • Calendly
  • Cozy

Remember that your professors are available to help provide you with ongoing advice and support, so if you’re struggling with getting organized, don’t be afraid to reach out.

Start networking

Finally, get involved. Talk with your student success coaches about how you can get involved with our mentorship program or chat with your professors about professional development and workshop opportunities.

We offer a variety of on-campus activities, including workshops, seminars and even a conference. When you attend events at K-State Olathe, you’ll have the opportunity to speak with professionals, including potential employers and mentors.

Our campus also has personalized networking opportunities. For example, at our upcoming animal health conference, you’ll have the chance to share dinner with subject matter experts. Networking in a small group provides you with the chance to ask specific questions and gain valuable insight that can help you on your path to success.

No matter what your major is, we want to help you prepare for a great semester. Don’t be afraid to reach out to your professors or student success coach for more tips on launching your fall semester right.
