K-State Olathe is offering a lineup of advanced manufacturing short courses that will provide industry professionals with the knowledge and practical skills they need to be successful.

If you work in advanced manufacturing and you’d like to elevate your knowledge of dust collection safety, pneumatic conveying or materials handling, our short courses will provide you with the practical skills you need to succeed.

This year’s lineup includes a variety of courses designed to provide guidance and support on topics such as dust collection, pneumatic conveying and materials processing.

Each of the courses offered this year is designed to tackle a different aspect of the advanced manufacturing industry.

Participants may attend any class in any order with the exception of the pneumatic conveying courses. Ideally, the basics course will be taken prior to the advanced course for maximum benefit.

Upcoming Courses

Processing and Handling of Bulk Solid Materials | Feb. 25-26

Processing and handling of powders and other bulk solid materials is widespread, but proper operation and system design are a challenge. Learning is difficult partly because there are so many variations and because no one teaches it in college. Accordingly, this course is intended to provide a basic understanding about the various bulk solid processes and handling methods. | Register

Basics of Pneumatic Conveying | April 8-9

Pneumatic conveying is the most widely used method for transporting bulk solid materials, but frequent problems occur because few people receive formal training about the technology. This course provides a broad education about everything related to pneumatic conveying. Learners receive an expert lecture about each topic, then take part in hands-on demonstrations using working components and actual conveying systems at one of our partner sites. | Register

Advanced Pneumatic Conveying | June 10-12

This course provides a brief overview, and then dives into specifying, designing and sizing a pneumatic conveying system. It involves a combination of theory, calculations and practical hands-on application. | Register

Programmable Logic Controller and Automation | Aug. 26-27

This two-day workshop on programmable logic controllers (PLCs) is designed to provide learners with a hands-on introduction to PLC systems and a deeper understanding of real-world applications. This course covers the basics of programming, networking and communication and integration with different systems.  | Register

Dust Collection Fundamentals and System Design | Oct. 7-9

Dust collection is a part of every facility that handles powders and other bulk solid materials but practical instruction is hard to come by. This course will explain how dust collection systems are designed and explain selection and sizing for each component. Dust explosion hazards and prevention also will be explained. | Register

Basics of Pneumatic Conveying | Dec. 2-3

Pneumatic conveying is the most widely used method for transporting bulk solid materials, but frequent problems occur because few people receive formal training about the technology. This course provides a broad education about everything related to pneumatic conveying. Students receive an expert lecture about each topic, then take part in hands-on demonstrations using working components and actual conveying systems. | Register

Did you know that training is often difficult to come by in North America? With K-State Olathe’s courses, attendees will receive training on the entire process from a neutral and educational perspective.

If you’re looking for an opportunity to grow your understanding of advanced manufacturing, attend a professional skills course and practice what you’ve learned, K-State Olathe’s 2025 advanced manufacturing lineup is now open for registration.
